Thank you Live Healthy Iowa!

About 10 years ago as I approached age 50, I knew I needed to lose weight.

I was already on prescription drugs for arthritis. So I joined a local team on a similar type project as Live Healthy Iowa. I lost 40 pounds and was able to get off the medication. Over the next 8 years I only gained about 5 of it back and was happy with my weight. Last year, my office started a team when the Iowa project began. I decided to join just to see if I could get rid of those extra 5 pounds. I wasn't working too hard at it when I saw that those 5# were coming off quite easily. So I decided to get more serious about it and lost a total of 20# and am now at the healthiest weight I have ever been - 132#! I was amazed what a little extra exercise could do for me. This winter, I saw my weight bouncing around and my habits were getting lazy, both exercise and diet - the mid winter blahs I guess. So when the project began again this year I joined to get me revved up again and keep that weight off. And it has worked! My weight remains stable and I feel better with the more disciplined exercise. Thank you Live Healthy Iowa! It's a great program and keeps me motivated!
